Presentation Details

Many productivity and organizing professionals are called back repeatedly to clients who seem to amass clutter or material items at a constant or alarming rate. Productivity and organizing clients care about their clients, and although repeat sessions may be lucrative, they often worry about these clients and their inability to change behaviors. My presentation will dive into what compulsive shopping is, how to recognize it, and various support mechanisms to help clients. I also zoom out to 30,000 feet and help professionals see the underlying cultural shifts that are affecting all of us, and why the embedded culture of consumerism creates shame, frustration, and makes it tough to stop shopping.
